Called Boalt; Got Rejected Forum

So Boalt was my top choice. I applied, went UR and noticed that people here were getting acceptances. I called to let them know I was accepted to another one of MVPB and asked about their timeline for my application. I was transferred to the Dean of Admissions. He asked for my info, and after a long pause, said I was denied. I can't help but wonder if calling had something to do with it; if I was on the cusp and calling just annoyed them and they denied me on the spot. That's insane, right? My status is still UR on the site, so I guess they just haven't processed my rejection.

EDITED for clarity. Sorry for not explaining better. FWIW, I'm ~20% at T20. I know Berkeley is big on GPA.

Wait -- are you saying they rejected on you on the phone while you were simply asking about their timeline?

I feel like I'm missing crucial details. They are not going to reject you based on a phone call.

I'm presuming you'd already applied? Like, when you called to find out when they'd be able to give you an answer, they were able to check your status and tell you that they'd rendered a decision? They didn't reject you because you called them.

Something sounds wrong.. i have never heard about a candidate being rejected over the phone by an admissions assistant...

When I applied to undergrad back in the day (precambrian era), I had not heard back from H two weeks after the "notices sent by" date, so I called the admissions office and learned that I did not get in. I am left to wonder if this is the type of situation being described (decision already rendered, but just learning about it on calling).
