Top 1/4 Loyola
What are my chances of transfer? I'm currently at sticker here so i figure it might be worth it to send some apps out to leverage scholarship money? Is it even worth the application money at this point?
Top choices I would defienteyy attend if accepted
USC
UCLA
Georgetown
George washington
Schools i would not attend but try to leverage for more scholarship
UC Davis
BU/BC
Emory
WUSTL

Your best bet is UCLA and USC, if you're going to transfer. I don't think you have the stats to get into GW and GULC.

What are you basing that on? Because Georgetown and GW accept considerably more transfers than USC and UCLA

Basing it on the fact that you're only top 25% in your class. Yeah, GULC and GW accept a lot of transfers, but the vast majority of those are top 15% or better.ashawnt wrote:What are you basing that on? Because Georgetown and GW accept considerably more transfers than USC and UCLA

If you're talking about applying to schools you have no intention of going to in an attempt to convince other schools to give you a scholarship as a transfer, I don't think there are any schools out there where the chance of this working is worth the cost of applying.ashawnt wrote:Ok. I'm essentially just parroting what I've read and have no personal basis for this, but it seems to be pretty common knowledge that nobody gives scholarship money for transfers. You don't help their rank = they would like to have you but would rather pay for someone who will help them in the rankings.ashawnt wrote:Ok. OP meant where to apply so that they can get an acceptance and be able to use it as leverage to get more scholarship money from their current school.isuperserial wrote:I'm essentially just parroting what I've read and have no personal basis for this, but it seems to be pretty common knowledge that nobody gives scholarship money for transfers. Re: Top 1/4 Loyola
This seems correct from my experience. Top 15-20% people at Pepperdine ended getting UCLA/USC and not GULC. So top 25% could be close but possible. Not sure on GW though.CounselorNebby wrote:Your best bet is UCLA and USC, if you're going to transfer. I don't think you have the stats to get into GW and GULC.
