Approx Top 30% at UT/Vandy/UCLA/USC
Medium-Strong work experience
Minimal Scholarship at current school
Want to live and work in Chicago, would a transfer app to UChi or NW make sense? What would be my chances at these schools?

I think both NU and UChi would make sense, especially given that you want Chicago and aren't on a large scholarship at your current school. I think NU is much more likely given your grades. UChi will be tough, especially because their transfer class is so small. But you have great shot at NU IMO

As mentioned, you probably have a good shot at NU, but I don't see NU being of great benefit to you over your current station. Does your school have access to a Chicago recruiting fair?
Others may (and will) disagree.

Yeah i mean i think the value of the transfer will partly depend on how good OP's odds are of getting Chicago from his current school, and we don't know which school OP is at right nowBVest wrote:As mentioned, you probably have a good shot at NU, but I don't see NU being of great benefit to you over your current station. obviously chi or NW would be better for chicago then Vandy, the chicago fair only has 10 firms attending. now whether or not you get in is a different story, but if you can afford the couple hundred bucks for an app why not just test the waters.

What are peoples opinions on UChi, is it worth a shot or is there chance to get in negligible?

I mean i would definitely still apply, because you never know, and I don't think anyone should be comfortable with definitively saying that it's completely off the table, since no one knows for sure. But you have lower odds than you do at NU, which are probably really high. But i think the application fee is worth it just to give yourself a chance. Better than wondering what-if laterAnonymous User wrote:What are peoples opinions on UChi, is it worth a shot or is there chance to get in negligible?

Whether it makes sense also depends on which journal you make. Top 30% plus law review probably would give you a better shot than you would have as a transfer at NU. Secondary and NU probably wins. I'd probably take Chicago in any case though if you get in. Might as well give it a shot. Nothing to lose.
