Transfer to T14 from PT
I go to a T1 school on the East Coast as a PT student. I am currently in the Top 1%, waiting for official rankings, but most likely 1-5/80. Unfortunately, we are not ranked in conjunction with FT students.
I've read the two main posts on TLS from PTs who transferred FT, but they are somewhat outdated. I really have no desire for a specific practice location, although I would ultimately prefer big law in DC/NY over anything else. However, I am incredibly flexible and willing to work in other major markets (Chicago, LA, SF, etc.).
I am wondering if anyone has experience transferring as a PT to the T14 and if they could provide any guidance. I have sent apps to GULC, GW, and CLS. Trying to figure out where to direct some other applications to schools who have credit requirements, but are not incredibly strict with them like Penn, Cornell, etc.
Thanks in advance!

Re: Transfer to T14 from PT
I'm a transfer at Berkeley. I have some friends who transferred in from PT programs. I think the credit requirements are strict - you can't transfer in after 1 PT year, but can after 2 PT years - but I'm 100% sure that, at least as of last year, Berkeley took PT students.

Re: Transfer to T14 from PT
Is this our thread? I want a thread for PT students! I'm gonna claim this one.
T2 PT
Top 1% (PT+FT)
1L GPA: 4.1
UGPA: <3.0
LSAT: 171
Softs: work experience (10+ years)
Applications submitted with 25 credits complete (will have >28 by mid-August). The apps I sent were worth the ~$100 to find out, damn the rules. I figure if it turns out I'm awesome enough to be admitted, then I'm awesome enough to be admitted with three credits pending. It's not like I'm making the long shot *that* much longer.
Berkeley - dinged on 7/1
(will add others after decisions are rendered)

Good luck to both of you! Are you folks committed to transferring, or are you on the fence?

Ah, seat deposit sounds pretty committed.txig wrote:T1 PT

For my reference, and maybe to help future PT students, how many credits are in a full-time 1L at your school?

Well they get to take 8 and possibly another 2-3 credit elective. So somewhere between 27-29/30 (I believe).
