I don't think you can justify the ~150k debt you'll be picking up. If you want to be a lawyer, a free degree from a T20 isn't a bad place to be.

Sparty sucks but this is true. You won't be accepted. Maybe GULC but that's not worth giving up your full ride.sparty99 wrote:Who the hell is going to accept you? You are MEDIAN at a T20. Slow your roll and enjoy your T20 school. YOU AINT GOING ANYWHERE.

No... not even a little.Anonymous User wrote:I was thinking median at top 20 might be as competitive as top 10% at a t2? Is this rational?

Re: Transfer from a top 20 with full scholarship?
When you go through OCI at the new school or start cold calling/mass mailing, you're going to have to disclose that you're a transfer student. Which means you'll have to put your T20 credentials on your resume as well, including your GPA. But I guess if you're a WUSTL student it might not hurt as much since WUSTL doesn't publish the median GPA (so u wouldn't have to disclose that you're median)
And i agree with the above posters that median at T20 won't net you any T14 offers

In classic Chicago fashion, NU will take transfer students who may not have the grades otherwise if they have connections. I'd bet that transfer you're talking about was related to someone important or to a generous alum.

If your T20 is a strong regional, stay there. A full ride from e.g. UCLA is a significantly better gig than sticker at MVP. Whatever better shot MVP gives you at OCI (which isn't much if it's Michigan) is not worth an additionally $120,000 by any stretch of the imagination.Anonymous User wrote:I got into an MVP! You should stay at the T20. You are going to have essentially the same resume during OCI (minus a line saying you got into MVP but you have no grades), and you are going to pay an extra $100K for it.
Stay at the T20, try to rock the next two years (take a lot of writing and/or practical classes) and try to crack top third at your school by the time you graduate. Do a useful clinic or something. Then you will graduate from a T20, debt free, with at least a decent resume.
Way better outcome than tons of debt from MVP.

Conventional TLS wisdom is more or less exactly what I just said. Transferring to sticker when you have a full ride already is almost always a bad idea.jdmonkey wrote:You raise a good point. Conventional TLS wisdom is also that median at a T20 isn't transferring to MVP.ymmv wrote:Conventional TLS wisdom is more or less exactly what I just said. This is true. Though with Michigan's recent employment figures I wouldn't be surprised if they've had to cast a wider applicant net than usual.flawschoolkid wrote:Conventional TLS wisdom is also that median at a T20 isn't transferring to MVP.ymmv wrote:Conventional TLS wisdom is more or less exactly what I just said.
