UCLA/USC transfer OCI
I'm thinking about trying transfer to one of these schools as I have ties to the area. How do transfers usually fare in getting biglaw during OCI if they did well at their previous school? Is one better than the other for biglaw?

They're generally regarded as peer schools. The common advice is to attend whichever school gives you more money, or if there is no difference, then whichever one you personally prefer.Anonymous User wrote:I'm thinking about trying transfer to one of these schools as I have ties to the area. Oops sorry, I guess I didn't really think about what forum I'm posting in. Yeah, I guess you should just pick based on your personal preference. Have you checked out LST?Anonymous User wrote:They give money to transfers?ph14 wrote:They're generally regarded as peer schools. USC Profile: http://www.lstscorereports.com/schools/usc/2013/ 29.8% large firm score
UCLA Profile: http://www.lstscorereports.com/schools/ucla/2013/ 32.5% large firm score
Difference probably isn't statistically significant. Are you in-state? I would go to whichever school is cheaper to attend then if you get into both.

I have friends who transferred to both schools and they all have SA/jobs lined up. I know USC OCI uses lottery though.

Yes I am in state. Would they be better than say Berkeley or Columbia (assuming I get in) for getting a job in SoCal?ph14 wrote:Oops sorry, I guess I didn't really think about what forum I'm posting in. Since you have ties to the area, I'd say Columbia. My opinion may change if you are IP-focused.Anonymous User wrote:I'm thinking about trying transfer to one of these schools as I have ties to the area. With ties to southern California, probably Berkeley or Columbia would be better than UCLA/USC.Anonymous User wrote:Yes I am in state. Re: UCLA/USC transfer OCI
This is definitely true. I have three transfer friends (one even without ties) who have SoCal jobs from Berkeley. I'm sure it's similar for Columbia - one thing to do might be to see if you can get your hands on Columbia's OCI list and make sure that SoCal offices show up there.ph14 wrote:With ties to southern California, probably Berkeley or Columbia would be better than UCLA/USC.
