current school:
school rank: top 30
class rank: 11/190
total COA for 1L + last two years: 130k

Thinking about T14 schools and I'm interested in a short term stint with biglaw, federal clerkships and potentially an academia route.

#1 transfer school would be Uchicago ED... i would incur about an additional 100k in debt- so I would graduate with about $230k in debt

Hmm, can you try and renegotiate with your current school for more scholarship money? Perhaps by using a UChicago transfer acceptance as leverage? I don't think I would pay $230k for UChicago, so I would probably default to your current school. Plus, with your high rank you're likely to get a big law position, meaning that you aren't getting a huge benefit for the extra $100k.

An academic position eventually is highly unlikely either way.

If you're unsure about it, then I would just do RD. If you maintain (or even drop a little) you'll have excellent options, which may include UChicago anyway. No sense in binding yourself to UChicago if you're unsure. Also, you can try to leverage more scholarship money from your T30 using an RD acceptance
