I'm torn as to whether I should consider transferring or not. Prior to filling out applications, I was all for it. I don't get along with most of my peers (my gunning probably doesn't help my cause). My school dropped in the rankings (again) and the city I live in is a rat hole of sorts. I'd ideally live in DC and I'm tied to the east coast--family considerations. As I'm calculating the cost of these transfer applications, I'm wondering if it's worth giving up free education for prestige. Should I consider transferring? What is the lowest ranked school I should consider transferring?
Stats:
Top 10% at lower T2 in major market
Attending on full scholly
Summer associate gig at V100 firm lined up for this summer (in my current market)
$$$ towards 2L tuition from the firm I'm summering at
Goals: I'd love to work as a federal clerk upon graduation and then work for the DOJ with hopes of becoming a AUSA some day (or even possibly a law professor).

You want to transfer. Here's the post you were looking for in affirmation. Now start getting your things together and try to pull into the top 5% and shoot for Columbia, Chicago, NYU or below.

Your goals likely need to be curtailed to a degree. If you pull top 5% and can get into NYU, UChi, Cuumbia etc...than I would go for it. You are , however, in a pretty good spot right now with the SA. Understand that even getting into one of those schools may not be enough to help you land a Federal Clerkship. This varies from judge to judge, but some do not like transfer students.
