Should i tell admissions my reason for transferring

Post by Anonymous User » Mon Mar 03, 2014 9:41 pm

I currently go to a T20 school, but am considering a move to MVP if I get in. I was accepted to MVP as a 1L but opted for my school due to the merit aid package and, at the time, what I thought the culture/academic environment was actually like.

Move to this semester, someone in my class accused me of cheating on a 1st semester final - the week our App Brief was due and the same day I had 2 1L SA interviews (only a few friends knew of these). Thing is, i have reason to believe it was malicious attempt. I was accused of seeking help, and helping, a fellow classmate on a take-home exam. My classmate received the highest grade in that class and the Dean's award. The day after the award was announced, the accusation was made and I was informed. Bear in mind this accusation came almost 2 months after the final was taken and grades posted - withholding this info is an honor code violation itself. *** Edit*** I was exonerated and it was dismissed without merit. ***Edit***

I know competitive and cut-throat environment are a given anywhere, but the school has decided not to further investigate the student for their accusation. While it's only second hand knowledge, a number of my friends go to MVP and have been telling me from day one it's much better than my T20. Further, they pretty much said there is nothing they can do about someone doing a similar thing at exam time. I guess it's me being frustrated with the system, and the only reason I came here was b/c of the money, now I'm wondering if saying I was wrong in what I expected and that MVP is where I want to be is a good argument.

I have other reasons - i went there for UG, want to stay in that area, good business/law program, etc.

The only reasons that you need, along with better job prospects, clinics, etc. Be positive -- you need a Dean's cert from your current LS.

Stay positive. You have two great reasons for transferring: better job prospects & returning to your preferred long-term location.
