Facts
*Median student at a T-14, who might want to transfer within my same grouping of schools (CCN, MVPB, DCNG) to my home market for 2L.
*Was admitted to the school I want to transfer to last cycle, simply starting to think that it might be the better place for me to be (both for OCI reasons and personal reasons).
*Also a UG alum of the school that I'm looking to transfer to for 2L.
*Cost difference of a transfer would be negligible for me.
Questions
*This seems like a very unconventional thing to do.... if you were a legal employer, would this look bad to you?
*Are median grades going to get a transfer like this done? How much would I need to improve this semester? Or is this app going to be a black box?
*Would an OCI transfer stigma still apply if my grades were from a peer school?
-------------------
Basically, I don't want to shoot myself in the foot by attempting to transfer, getting rejected, then coming back to my current school with all that out in the open. Not at all set on doing this either, but it has definitely crossed my mind and I thought doing a little preliminary research on the topic wouldn't be a bad idea. Thanks to anyone with advice!

Re: Transferring within t-14 grouping
there's no such thing as OCI transfer stigma. It seems like transfers do at least as well as organic students everywhere; at my school they do significantly better.
I have no idea if you can transfer at median to a peer school. There are reasons why I think T-14 like to take a lot of transfers; you would meet some of those criteria (more tuition $$), and maybe not meet some (gotten top-flight grades in law courses).

Yeah, I figured that's kinda where I'd be at. Maybe worth a shot if I decide that's what I'd want to do. Thanks!

Re: Transferring within t-14 grouping
I'm in the lowest grouping and it seemed like a lot of people got to the T6 with top 1/3 to median grades. Thats just from the rumor mill though I honestly have no idea what sorts of grades those people had.

Good anecdote, thanks! From what a lot of other threads say, it sounds like Top 1/3 is pretty safe for a lateral, and other factors can be big for people at the extremes (both high and low grades).FlanAl wrote:I'm in the lowest grouping and it seemed like a lot of people got to the T6 with top 1/3 to median grades.
