Hey, so I'm a 0L deciding between a couple of places... right now: WASHU and Fordham. I like both equally so if I'm unable to transfer, it's not a huge deal, I'd be comfortable there for my law school education. Eventually, I'd like to try and transfer into the T14. Will I get a bunch of F's and flunk out? MAYBE. But let's say the stars align and I do a really good job during my 1L year:
Does attending a T20 and being at the top of your class really mean more than being at the top of a #38 school? Because I received a pretty solid scholarship at Fordham and would love to transfer into Columbia or NYU (I'm a New Yorker myself) and those happen to be big transfer schools... but I basically want to do whatever I can to position myself the best.
Please don't be obnoxious. If you feel the need to say something unhelpful, please just refrain.
Thanks a lot for any insights/advice!

Re: WASHU or Fordham?
The consensus advice is that planning on transferring is not a good idea. You have acknowledged that you won't be crushed if you cannot transfer, so I'll leave that alone. I'm not sure what solid means (we really could use more info btw, posting both anonymuously and with little info is gonna hamper the advice you can receive on here) but I think Fordham at the right price makes much more sense then Wash U for you, because it seems you are focused on the NYC market. Frankly, neither school gives you a great shot at NYC, but at least at Fordham you would be a local student and able to "grind" through the networking game.
Essentially, if Fordham's total COA (both tuition and COL) is reasonable, your plan seems okay. But don't plan on being top 5-10% or whatever you have to be to transfer to Columbia/NYU. Go to a school assuming you will be there for good.
Good luck!

Also, as noted above: wrong forum. Use the 0L advice forum next time.

Re: WASHU or Fordham?
Yes, please do use the correct forum - ask a law student or choosing a law school or the like. I'm going to lock this rather than move it because there's no anonymous function in those subforums and so I'd have to out you. (You can re-ask in the right forum, of course.)
