Part time TT student seeking T14 transfer
I noticed on the T14 applications that there are generally provisions saying that students that were part time at any point in their first year will not be considered. Some also require that the entirety of the first year course load be completed by June. Do these schools really care about these things? Specifically, I'm looking at HLS, CLS, NYU, Penn, Mich, and NU. If any part time students have transferred to these schools, please post ITT about your experience. I will be finished my entire first year course load (28 creds) by August and am hoping that this will not hinder my applications.

I don't have personal experience with these things, but if it's on the application form, why do you think they'd not care?

My professors and also my employer have all said that they won't care that I'm a part time student and that part time students have successfully transferred in the past.

Did those students successfully transfer at the same point in their schooling, or later? Also, why not just call up the schools and ask? That's one of the reasons admissions offices are there. Then there's no debate.

Yeah, I've been planning on calling but just keep getting distracted with things that are more important right now. I was hoping others had been in the same situation.

Gotcha. (Sorry for such unhelpful responses, I'm just so much of a "follow the instructions on the application" person that I was curious.)

Some schools will not give you credit for any summer courses. You can find info on the transfer pages on the schools' websites but your best bet is to call.

That thread helped a lot last year when I finished my first PT year (although I didn't apply last year after all).

Just wanted to come back and say that the information in that thread must be outdated. I was told by some of the schools that they would not review my apps at all due to either my part time student status or not having 28 credits completed at the time of applying. The schools are serious about these requirements, and I wasted my application fees on them.

That's a silly waste of money... when you could have either followed the instructions or just called before filling out the apps... that's a pretty big question to have answered... one most would want to have answered prior to completing applications..Anonymous User wrote:Just wanted to come back and say that the information in that thread must be outdated. OP here: Thanks for bumping this year old thread to imply that I'm an idiot. First, as you can see from my post dates, my applications were down to the wire and just had to be sent out immediately if I stood a chance. Second, the available advice on TLS said not to call because it would simply draw unwanted attention to the fact that you're a part timer. The Dark Kite wrote:That's a silly waste of money... when you could have either followed the instructions or just called before filling out the apps... that's a pretty big question to have answered... one most would want to have answered prior to completing applications..Anonymous User wrote:Just wanted to come back and say that the information in that thread must be outdated. I made a game time decision and goofed. I can admit that. But I want this info to be available to the next PT student that attempts a transfer, since the info isn't really out there and contacting schools directly about this is risky.
