T4 student admitted to WUSTL EA outside top 1/3????
I'm at a T4 school in the south. A friend in my class threw out several EA apps for the heck of it after the semester. I am attempting to transfer myself and follow this forum closely, so I told him there was no way he would get in anywhere because he would have to be in at least the top 10%. Well, he just got an acceptance from WUSTL a couple days ago and I was in disbelief. I actually read the acceptance twice to make sure it was correct. He was ranked slightly above the middle of the class. I am in top 10%, and I am regretting not doing the EA. Are my chances still good that they would accept another student from
the same school?? Does this mean I should shoot higher if I end up higher than 10% when this semester is over ? Are there fewer transfer applications this year or something ?
BTW...his acceptance included: 155 LSAT, low UGPA (below 3.0), and ranked in the middle of the law school class. Is it easier to transfer to WUSTL now??

Transfers to T1 schools are more of a black box than to T14s. Wash U might have a small class and are looking to fill it up with transfers. If your grades are good I would definitely throw some apps out.

How high up should I apply. I figured WUSTL (#19) was out of my league. But now I know I could get in.

The general consensus is if you are top 10%, aim at least T14, GULC is extremely transfer friendly.

Top 10% at a T4 is a long stretch for GULC though I would still apply there and some high T1s.kyle010723 wrote:The general consensus is if you are top 10%, aim at least T14, GULC is extremely transfer friendly.

Well I never planned on applying to GUCL bc I thought it would be a waste of app money. But if I do better this semester. I think I may apply. Thanks for the info all !!

WUSTL sent me an email a couple of days ago inviting me to apply as a transfer after having rejected my initial application last year outright. Must be desperate or something...

40 less students. Even if that's intentional, getting extra $$$ from transfers is appealing.

Wow...thanks for the info. Must be easier to get in this cycle. Do you think other schools are doing the same thing as WUSTL this year??

Someone at my school, who had no inside info, theorized that as enrollments declined top schools would fill up their classes with transfers. I don't think that will have an effect on a lot of the T14 (there's always enough Top 10% students they can find) but it seems high T1s will be taking full advantage of transfers.Anonymous User wrote:Wow...thanks for the info.
