Hello, I am posting anonymously so as not to out myself.
I made roughly top 10% of my class first semester, and if (a pretty big if) I manage to repeat my performance second semester I know for sure I will be applying to transfer HLS. I will also be putting in an ap at Yale but my intent here is Harvard.
My reasons are personal, and have nothing to do with my career choices. As a result this is not a "should I transfer" thread, rather I would like to pick the brains of those who have transfered to Harvard or Yale.
1. How is OCI? More specifically, will what is essentially a lateral transfer blackball me as an "academic" in the eyes of some firms?
2. Whats something you wishyou had knew at the time about transferring?
3. What has your experience been like at the new school, socially and academically?
4. Did your previous school shaft you in any way - for example, try to make you disgorge financial aid given you your 1L year?
5. The deans certification - do i actually need to get this signed by a dean? or can i get this from a low-level bureaucrat (what exactly counts as "an administrative official"?)
6. Approx. what class rank do I need to have a shot at transferring from CCN? I have heard everyting from top 30% to top 10%. The consensus at the moment seems to be top 25%.
7. Law review. Do transfers actually make it onto the HLR?
My situation is a bit peculiar, since very few people would make the transfer, so advice from people who have moved from CCN or elsewhere in the top 14 would be especially appreciated - if you transferred from CCN to HY, please, please, please pm me. This is not exactly something I can get advice about from my mentors at my school.
Thanks
