Even if this is a lateral transfer, you need to have competitive grades for it.

You're wanting to go T3 to T1. I'm guessing you're at about median with your curve? Can't hurt to try, but the stats are against you.

Baltimore places a significantly higher percentage of the class in legal jobs. Any particular reason why you want to transfer to the American?

mostly location. Baltimore job placement is primarily in Baltimore. I'd really like to have a career in DC. I was under the impression that it would be easier to work in DC with a degree from AU.
Would it be better to wait till spring semester gpa comes in?

You need to be thinking about dropping out, not transferring

not sure worth it to transfer to American for DC, bc that seems like it would be a huge tuition increase as well as a huge CoL increase, when bmore in the first place is a train ride away.
Baltimore places in maryland, and im sure there are alumni in Bethesda, College Park, Silver Spring areas of the greater DC metro area that you can reach out too for advice.
I would start networking my ass off with alumni on the maryland side of DC area for 1L summer jobs.

Hi!
You should go to the university that you think is best for you. But before you consider transferring, try contacting UB's Career Development for the School of Law. They can help you get started, which can end in experience or networking with UB's alumni. You can find more information about that here: http://law.ubalt.edu/career/?ad_source=socialmedia
And don't forget that UB hosts career fairs which include DC: http://law.ubalt.edu/career/students/cu ... ocialmedia
Let me know if you have any other questions. I'm happy to help!
