I go to a lower T2 and just got my grades back. I am currently in the lower 10% (7-8) and am hoping to bump that up a little since I know there is a difference between top 10 and top 5 for transfer success. My questions aren't about chances necessarily but what the best options would be. There is a strong regional T20 near by and I will likely blanket the T14 with Berkeley pretty much being my goal/reach school (my g-pa went there and I think he may have some connections still). I would love to stay in the region, but would love a good job even more!
Here are my options?
ED at G-town- worst that happens they defer me to the regular transfer cycle best that happens I have a T-14 acceptance in my pocket in case grades go down slightly. I would like to stay west coast and would likely just use this acceptance for schol negotiations if the rest of the t14 strikes out.
What schools do you guys think would be worth applying to and leaving my school for?
Arguments for staying at my current school-I have done a fair amount of networking with alumni, I would be able to grade onto law review, probably get some decent money at the end of the year.
Assuming I get accepted to the regional T-20 would it even be worth it to transfer given the alumni networking and opportunities at my current school?

Re: Need Advice on Transfer Options
What are your career goals? What is your schools placement like? Besides the networking you've done, do you have any other connections in your market? Are you paying sticker now or do you have $$$?
These are all the types of things you have to consider in deciding whether to transfer or not.

Yes I am paying sticker now but the school give out end of year scholys, Im sure its an attempt to keep people from transferring. I have strong ties to the region lived here my entire life and my wife and her family live in the region. My profesional goals-Big law would be awesome but I have also been looking into some boutique/litigation firms that specialize in an industry I have extensive work experience in. (sorry for being vague but ppl from my school frequent this site and anymore specific and id prob. out myself)

Re: Need Advice on Transfer Options
If your GPA remains solid you may be able to do better than Gtown. I had a 3.85 at a lower T2 school with a 3.0 curve. That may have put me slightly higher ranked than 7% (my school didn't rank). I was able to transfer to CLS. ED to Gtown if you def want to transfer but after spring grades come out, don't limit yourself to that. Good Luck!!
