No more beating around the bush
I want to make 120 -160k out of school...I have a 4.0 and in top 2% at STCL but have been accepted for transfer at SMU (as well as Baylor)...what gives me the best chances of making that salary?

Couldn't those numbers get you in at UT?

Re: No more beating around the bush
I agree with everyone pointing you to Texas. However, to answer your question, it appears SMU placed better with the NLJ250. Not sure how outdated this is, but check out page 4 of the following: http://www.law.com/img/nlj/charts/composite.pdf
Also, Law.com put SMU in its top 50 for placing in the NLJ250 by sending 28 of 272 graduates in 2011. Not great numbers, but better than Baylor which did not even make the top 50. Source: http://www.law.com/jsp/nlj/PubArticleNL ... 0003232122

Re: No more beating around the bush
thank you that was very helpful...also, Texas is my #1 choice hands down, especially considering I went to UT as an undergrad...but I am still waiting to hear back from them.

I probably wouldn't transfer in your situation unless it was UT.
Also, be sure to take into account any COL/increase in tuition into your analysis.

Why would you say not to transfer to smu? And the increase in tuition is not a problem

This. If you're part-time and need to be under a credit limit to transfer to regular schools, just take like 1 or 2 courses this semester instead of a full load (I have no idea how credits work at your school, but I'm sure there are ways to be under like 32 or whatever the number is).shock259 wrote:I probably wouldn't transfer in your situation unless it was UT.

Re: No more beating around the bush
Because you have amazing grades at your school already. If you transfer into SMU, your grades will be wiped. To be safe, you should pretend you'll end up at median at your new school. TTT @ top 2% > SMU @ median. It probably just isn't worth losing your grades to switch into a school like SMU, absent other compelling reasons.outrageousresipsa wrote:Why would you say not to transfer to smu? Participate in the EA programs at GULC and GWU. Do not limit yourself to texas.

Re: No more beating around the bush
well in that case should i just take this semester off if I dont get into UT, and then apply to other T14 schools next go 'round in the fall?
*Edit: and if so, how will this look during OCI's?
