TTTT --> T14 Transfer Taking Questions
Willing to take questions for any people thinking about transferring.
I worked for a federal district court judge for my 1L summer. I was fortunate to land a vault SA for next summer as well.

What held you back from a T-14/good school the first time around? GPA/LSAT or both?

I never visited TLS. Which might of been a blessing in disguise.bizzybone1313 wrote:What held you back from a T-14/good school the first time around? GPA/LSAT or both?

How exactly did you transfer? What process did you have to take?

I will try to answer this the best I can. Follow up if this answer does not suffice.prssrnt17 wrote:How exactly did you transfer? What process did you have to take?
Every school has its own process. It resembles regular admission, but switch LSAT/UGPA with your School Rank/Class Rank. Also, t14 schools like to cherry pick top students from other schools in their region. So let us say your top school is Boalt, I am aware that they cherry pick from schools in their region. Whereas I was top 1% at a TTTT outside of their region and I received a quick ding from them.
I spent countless hours reading Yahoo Transfer Groups and TLS threads. So I know your School Rank/Class Rank is not the end of it. If you went to a school for undergrad, that will substantially increase your chance of transferring into their law school. But your grades still need to be decent.
The process involves letters of rec and a personal statement. See Arrow's post in regard to those.

Re: TTTT --> T14 Transfer Taking Questions
I could answer this question with a book. Follow up if you want to hear more. The classroom, the job hunt and the money.SemperLegal wrote:How do the experiences vary?
The classroom. This has been the biggest difference for me. The students are very impressive at my t14. Rarely does a professor stump the class (even with obscure questions that are not relevant to the reading). But the curve seems to accommodate for the increase in brain power. However, there are a good amount of students that are cold called that have to pass. It seems people relax their 2L year here. Professors have better resumes here, but professors at my old school taught the subjects better. My old school taught to pass the bar though.
The job hunt - It was eye opening. I was the same person, but I received a lot of interest from employers. I feel I only landed a vault SA because I transferred. But I am not 100% sure.
The money. - I walked away from a full ride. I am paying sticker here.

How much less are you studying this year than you did 1L?
(Hint: say a lot less so I feel better).

Way less. I enjoy drinking and going out. I gave it up first year and I brought it back this year.shock259 wrote:How much less are you studying this year than you did 1L?

Re: TTTT --> T14 Transfer Taking Questions
Since everyone makes friends and forms their groups 1L year, was it hard to break into them as a 2L in your new school? Especially since people are more spread out and doing their own thing 2L year whereas 1L is when everyone meets everyone
