Harvard Transfer Class 2014 New Admits!
Setting up a thread for all those new admits who want to coordinate housing, swap advice, talk about interview week, etc.

Checking in. Anyone know about financial aid? It says we have to wait until we get our harvard email addresses. That seems odd, especially since we only have 7 days to make a decision.

Would like to know this as well. This will pretty much make my decision I think.nonprofit-prophet wrote:Checking in. Anyone know about financial aid? It says we have to wait until we get our harvard email addresses. That seems odd, especially since we only have 7 days to make a decision.

Are you guys seriously considering not going to Harvard if the cost is too high?

Yes. It's not crazy. I'm top of my class at UT.mileslibertatis wrote:Are you guys seriously considering not going to Harvard if the cost is too high?

The problem for me is that I actually really, really like the school I am at now and have no doubt that I would be in a good place when I graduate. But, I am basically paying sticker. And, come on, it's Harvard.mileslibertatis wrote:Are you guys seriously considering not going to Harvard if the cost is too high?

Nonprophet - top of your class at UT guarantees you a posh job in whatever Texas city you want. My professors at another Texas school (Baylor/SMU, easy to figure out which from other posts but let's be discreet, shall we?) even say that top of the class at our school can get Fullbright Jaworski, etc. So all this to say it really isn't crazy for you to be considering keeping what you've got down there. And given your avatar, you really like the school.
But still. Harvard.

Yea, I agree it is still harvard. But I'm definitely very debt averse. I'm paying very close to sticker now and will attend whichever school can get my debt lower.mileslibertatis wrote:Nonprophet - top of your class at UT guarantees you a posh job in whatever Texas city you want. I've decided 100% I'm going. I only applied to Harvard and though I'm at the top of my class at a T35 with Law Review, I have no doubt that I'll have better educational and professional opportunities. I'm paying in-state sticker where I'm at, so for me it's the obvious choice. I don't mind my school but I'm not thrilled to be here for several reasons, so it's a no-brainer. If anyone has any questions, feel free to PM me. Does anyone know the next steps at this point? Sounds like we're just waiting for stuff.

I'm surprised you haven't already managed to negotiate some kind of scholarship from UT. Have you tried asking them?nonprofit-prophet wrote:Yea, I agree it is still harvard. Re: Harvard Transfer Class 2014 New Admits!
once you get your harvard email address you can start the financial aid application process. the website says they generally get your preliminary award out ~2 weeks after you submit all your documentation (there's a ton). when i got my phone call she said i should not expect to have a financial aid offer before the deadline. just a heads up.nonprofit-prophet wrote:same herePinkCow wrote:Would like to know this as well. When is the due date for decision for the second wave of admits? Is it still July 18th?

Has anybody that got in yesterday been able to activate their HLS Student Financial Services account yet? I keep entering my full e-mail into the First-Time User form and it gives me an error.

Hi all, congrats to everyone! I am also curious about how to submit the deposit...
Also - what are you all doing housing wise? i.e. who wants a roommate?
