If you can get a job you'd like in Chicago with no debt, I'm not sure I would advise you to transfer to UVA and incur an additional $70k. Doing some high powered Chicago lawyering for a few years should open up government work. Or you can work your angles with Rahm Emanuel - Chicago seems to be a good city for translating to Fed work.

Why didn't you try to write on at Virginia ?

If you do not make law review at Illinois, then the better choice is Virginia. However, if you do make law review at Illinois, it would tough to give a full tuition scholarship, top 10% class rank & law review when you're targeting Chicago. Did you apply to Northwestern ?

If you're ranked 10 percent or better don't waste your time (and more importantly money) transferring to UVA (I'm a UVA student). Especially if you want Chicago.
