FWIW, the consensus is that transfer personal statements are less important than in regular admissions. I also think the straight to the point bio with a little "why I want to go to X "that is at least somewhat personalized to the school is the norm.

However, if you are reaching for a top school, there are many qualified applicants with something similar. You are top 5% T30? There is someone who is top 5% T30 and someone else who is #1 T50, etc. Being somewhat more creative, in a way that represents "why I want to go to school X" can be a way to distinguish your application. The trick is not getting too creative so that it interferes with stating your main reason/goal for transferring.

Look up Arrow's essay about being in the library late at night studying as a 1L if you want to see a quality, creative PS.

Yeah I couldn't find it either. His stickied thread mentions writing a run-of-the-mill essay, but I specifically remember something that starts off with a quasi-creative writing part about fumbling around the for the light switch in an empty library.

Agreed. This would be helpful. Unless some other successful transfer as some solid advice/guidelines for personal statements.
