3.54 at T3 to ???

Post by carbolicsmokeball » Mon Feb 27, 2012 10:30 am

I've got a 3.54 at a large T3 school. I'm in the military, made a lot of connections this semester, and will be interning for a state appellate judge this summer. What's the highest you think I can go? Is T1 too much to ask?

If your GPA places you in the Top 15%, then tier one law schools are within reach, in my opinion.

Not sure, I'm guessing top 20% or higher?

Needs to be at least Top 20% to have a realistic shot at transferring to a Tier One law school. More importantly, however, is the ability to transfer into a solid law school in your target market whether or not it is a Tier One (e.g., University of Houston for the Houston, Texas market).

Most schools state on their website that you need to be in top 10-15%. Stay within those bounds, get your application in as early as possible, and you should be a solid transfer candidate. Good luck!

Depends on school, class rank, and multiple other factors. FWIW, I transferred from NYLS (#135, TTT) just within top 20% (19.9 or so) to BU (#22, T1)

take from that what you will.

The only way that that really would have been a good move is if you were paying sticker at NYLS. The transfer may have worked out for you (in terms of OCI), but you couldn't have predicted that prior to transferring.

Thanks for your opinion?...

He asked if T1 was too high to ask for and I was demonstrating for him that it wasn't...

BUT...I was paying sticker and it has worked out for me...having participated in both OCIs, I can tell you I was much better off at BU.
