Has anyone at a T 1 or 2 school transferred to Duke?
I was just wondering if anyone at a Tier 1 or 2 school successfully transferred to Duke Law School?
If you're # 1 with a 4.00 at 40-50 school and you are co-authoring a law review article with a professor, and have much extra-curriculars and an excellent personal statement, would you say there was a decent shot at transferring to Duke Law School?
Has anyone at Tier 1 or 2 the last few years made the leap to Duke? If so, what did your numbers look like?

I attended a T2 my 1L year (I transferred to UVA) and another guy in my class transferred to Duke. I'm not sure where he was ranked by I'd definitely assume top 10 students (i.e., b/t top 5 and 10%). You should be solid with your current stats (assuming you can keep up the grades).

If your situation is really #1 with cowriting an article with a professor, you should be looking at HYS, IMO. I'm sure your shot at duke would be great, but at that point you have a shot at pretty much any school.

You already made this post before and it got locked.
So let me reiterate my point:
Get into law school first, 0L.

+1 - don't waste your money on law school if you are already planning to transfer. The former Dean of NYLS (Matisar) said it best at 1L orientation. It went something like this: "Look around the room. You see everyone in here? They come from similar situations and scored similar scores on their LSAT. All of them got as many A's as you in undergrad and all of them are determined to be at the top of the class. I've got news for you all - 90% of you won't be in the top 10%."TTRansfer wrote:You already made this post before and it got locked.

Don't plan on being top 10%...much less #1. Everyone does and the only people you see on TLS talking about their transfers are the ones who succeeded. Don't think that success comes easily or at will. We all worked our tails off and some luck along the way helped too.

No one has EVER transferred to Duke. Ever. In the history of lawl school.hoos89 wrote:What a dumb thread. Besides the absurdity of the hypos, the actual topic is ridiculous as it pretty much amounts to "has anyone ever transferred to Duke?"

RC fail. Everyone knows TTT and TTTT students transfer to Duke all the time. He just wants to know if any T1/T2 students have.TTRansfer wrote:No one has EVER transferred to Duke. Ever. Why would a T1 transfer to a T5 like Duke?Kabuo wrote:RC fail. Everyone knows TTT and TTTT students transfer to Duke all the time.
