What is the difference in debt between transferring to Ohio State for two years (presumably at in state rates) and staying with current scholarship?

Re: Should I Think About Transferring?
Hard to guess right now. I live on my own in Cleveland and it is costing me a fortune. I know a lot of people in Columbus and could definitely live with somebody there, probably saving me about $400-500 a month.bceagles182 wrote:What is the difference in debt between transferring to Ohio State for two years (presumably at in state rates) and staying with current scholarship?
Tuition wise, I think OSU is about $24k and right now my tuition here is $6k.
Combine those I think I would probably incur about $27k more debt at OSU. I absolutely suck at math so somebody might want to double check this.

Re: Should I Think About Transferring?
The answer to your question is yes, you should consider transferring.
I don't know how many transfer OSU takes, but top 5% at Cleveland State should be good enough to get you into a school in that range. You might as well apply to give yourself options. Right now you only have first semester grades, so you need to make grades again before you can do anything. Ultimately, you would be best suited to give yourself as many options as possible and make the decision once you have all of the information in hand. So my advice would be to focus on making grades again right now (which you'll need regardless of whether or not you transfer), apply to OSU after spring finals, and then wait for your grades to come in.
Once you have grades and an OSU acceptance in hand, come back and ask again.

This may well be true if OP was top 5% after 1L.... But what if he's admitted to OSU and finishes the year at top 10%? or top 15%?YourCaptain wrote:osu is not worth it
The point is that you hold off on making the decision until you have all of the information that you need to make it.
