Final Transfer Stats 2011
Thought it might be helpful to start a thread for next year's students:
My numbers:
Current Law School: #60 (Tier 2)
Undergraduate GPA: 2.9
Undergraduate School rank: top 25
LSAT: 161
1L GPA: 3.89
1L Class Rank: 1/219
Honors: CALI Award (1)
Admitted: Georgetown Early Action, William and Mary, Duke, Virginia
Denied: Yale, Harvard, Penn
Choice: Virginia
Very happy with choice. Would apply to NYU and Columbia if I could do over again!
Best of luck and hope this helps next year!

I am surprised you did not get into Penn. Congrats on UVA though!

Re: Final Transfer Stats 2011
Whittier's curve is pretty rough, I believe they curve to a 2.6. Anything above a 3.0 in any class puts you in the top of the class. They definitely do everything they can to discourage people from transferring, such as waiting to release class ranks a month after grades are turned in.

Re: Final Transfer Stats 2011
Solid idea to make this thread.
Current Law School: school in the 60s (Tier 2)
1L GPA: 3.97
WE: no work experience
I don't think the undergrad stuff matters at all for transfers
Early Action/Decision
Georgetown: accepted EA
Chicago: deferred ED
Regular Decision
Cornell: accepted
Duke: effectively withdrew (didn't complete application after I received other acceptances)
Berkeley: denied
Michigan: denied
Penn: accepted
NYU: accepted
Columbia: accepted (ATTENDING)
Pretty happy with my cycle. I probably would have had no chance at Harvard, but I'd apply anyway if I had to do it again.

Re: Final Transfer Stats 2011
Getting some good stuff here. Keep it up.
Interesting. Those of us at the very top of our classes at Tier 2 schools seem to have no shot at top 3 schools, and Berkeley seems to be very tough.
And yes, Penn was interesting. They accepted #6 in class from my school but not #1. Not upset, as I would still have stuck with UVa.
CCN seem actually more generous than Berkeley toward tier 2 students.

Re: Final Transfer Stats 2011
Current Law School: #77 (T2)
WE: 3 years full-time
1L GPA: 3.8X
1L Rank: 6/4XX (yeah, that's a 4)
Honors: 4 Book Awards, LR
Harvard: Ding
Columbia: Withdrew before response
NYU: Withdrew before response
Michigan: In, withdrew
UVa: Ding
Penn: In, attending
Good luck to everyone still waiting and to next year's transfer class. My advice? DO THE APPLICATIONS FIRST AND EARLY. Way easier to go complete early if they already have your app and are just waiting on grades. I did it the wrong way.
