Gifts for Recommendation Writers?
Is anyone getting gifts for the profs that wrote letters of rec? I'd like to get something small as a thank you but I'm not sure what. Any ideas? I am contemplating a coffee mug from my new school, but I didn't know if that would elicit a "gee thanks?...I think"?

It depends on how close you are with them. I took mine both to lunch.

Re: Gifts for Recommendation Writers?
I sent one professor who wrote a letter of recommendation for me a card. In it, I wrote a short thank you note and enclosed a coffee shop gift card. I always saw him at said coffee shop in between classes.
Personally, I wouldn't give the professor a coffee mug from your new school. If you don't have any idea of which small token of thanks your professor would use/like, I would just send a thank you card to express your gratitude.
