Nah. I'm already there.

(But that's an interesting idea. Someone mentioned lateraling to reset your GPA. Can you lateral to your own school and reset GPA? Why not?)

Deposited and got a convertible at McClurg on Friday. Putting a bid list together now, no clue what I'm doing. Definitely excited for NU though.

Paid my deposit. Planning on attending though I still need to find a place (it seems hard to do that remotely). I may wait until my hubby and I drive out there at the end of the month. So-o-o-o-o much to do in a short time. Very excited about NU though! Not sure if I should mail firms that are in my target market (Seattle) or wait until I find out which firms I get for OCI. Thoughts?

Hi everyone! I've been accepted to Northwestern and am trying to decide between Northwestern and Cornell, do any of you know how transfer students fare in OCI? I'd really like a top firm gig in NYC (I know, I know, who doesn't) next summer and would like to know my chances from Northwestern. Cornell is obviously closer to NYC, but they are being extremely difficult about giving me any info and they won't let me attend their August Job Fair, where most of their Biglaw recruiting happens. Would love any info on transfer students at Northwestern and their job prospects.

Many, many thanks!

Best,
Yashreeka

I dunno if NU is worth transferring to, but if Cornell isn't letting you do OCI, don't go there.

First off, +1 to what DF said - the whole point of transferring is OCI, and if you can't do it at Cornell then obviously you wouldn't go there. NU has plenty of NYC firms coming to OCI, including most of the big ones. If you look at the callback thread from last year it looks like people who focused on NYC did pretty well. I don't know what your other options are, but I don't think transferring to NU with NYC aspirations is objectively crazy or anything.

Alright, I've spoken to a bunch of folks and I've pretty much decided on Northwestern. Their career services was INCREDIBLY helpful. I am much more excited about Chicago than Ithaca anyway! :)

Is anyone looking for a roommate to help save some $? Has the school put together such a list that I’m not seeing?

Hi everyone, I'm transferring in from Notre Dame. I was hoping to get in touch with other transfers and try to pick up an apartment. I'm living in Indianapolis at the moment, for work, and I'll be driving up to the city on the 30th to visit a friend and do some apartment hunting. Let me know if you're interested.

I'm 24, male, and very social. I've worked as a chef and bartender, so I can definitely cook and mix drinks. I'm clean--e.g. I hate dirty dishes.

I don't smoke and do not want to live with a smoker. Obviously no drug use. I also do not want to live with anyone with pets. I'm open to living with male and female roommates.

Cheers, mates.

Hello Everyone, I deposited last wednesday. Needless to say, I'm very excited! :)

I'm not even sure how to get started on this housing business...

Does Northwestern send some sort of packet? I'd like to move forward on financial aid if possible, but haven't heard anything about that process...

Hey, I'm very excited to be transferring as well. I plan to ramp up my apartment hunting soon, and I was going to get my own place, but I'm down to live with some others, too. Ideas?

i didn't receive anything. there is info on the admitted students website for housing/financial aid. if you already did fafsa you prolly gotta go back and edit the schools the info is sent to, and call fin aid office at your old school and let them know you are redirecting the loan money or whatever. then fill out need access. i just got my award info today, took about a week.

So the housing search is going well.

I've been checking craigslist and padmapper, and I've enlisted the services of a free-until-fruitful apartment hunter.

If anyone wants more info on me or what I've found, just shoot me a private message and I'll send along my e-mail.

Here's my public profile on LinkedIn: http://www.linkedin.com/in/dsayranian

Cheers.

Does anyone know if we have an existing listserv for transfer students or for the class of 2013? I dislike mass e-mails, but from what I'm told, the FB group is essentially abandoned (last post November 2010).

Nope, know nothing about that, but I'd definitely be down to start a google group for class of 2013 transfers, I think that would be nice b/c we will likely feel like lost sheep those first few days :) also, journal write-on through orientation right up until the first day of classes? i'm so excited about that it hurts. sigh... we could commiserate through google group. heh.

Alright, created: NorthwesternLawTransfers2013@googlegroups.com

But for now, I've left it restricted, so I'll need to invite you. Otherwise, our archives would be public and I don't think that's what we want. I think we want it to be a safe space to vocalize concerns we might be having as transfer students, so it could be a bad look if other students at NU got a hold of what we were saying. If you think differently, let me know and we can work it out for sure. That was just my initial thought on the matter.

Probably a bad idea to just post my email address here, so maybe send me a PM, I'll send you my email address, and then forward me something that might let me know you're a Northwestern transfer (acceptance letter, deposit confirmation, something) and I'll email you an invite? Is that getting too complicated? Let me know your thoughts, but definitely looking forward to a way for all of us to stay in touch with each other :) And when we meet more come August 22nd or 23rd (or maybe earlier during OCI), we can tell other transfers not on TLS and make sure to get them involved. Let me know if you have other thoughts, concerns, or suggestions about how to go about this! :)

So I spent the majority of the past two days walking through Lincoln Park and parts of Old Town and Lakeview looking at/for apartments. I came up rather empty-handed on quality rentals.

If anyone hears of anything please let me know. It's been exhausting.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
