I am interested to hear the feedback you get. Why not make a poll? I would go, just because I think NU is the considerably stronger school, but I think there are no guarantees either way.

Transfer. If you were on LR/getting significant money/in top 10% I would say no, but since none of the above are true, you should consider yourself lucky to get into NU and attend.

Hey OP, I go to wustl with you and congrats. I was getting northwestern app together (was top 15% first semester) and then got raped on my crim law test and fell to top 25%. I decided it wouldn't be worth it to apply. After reading this, I am so angry with myself (wrote-on to LR, finance experience) and I think you'd be stupid not to go. Our OCI is almost a joke, there are 60 unique employers at early interview week, with like 15 21 being resume collect. The only chance I'm going to have is through mass mailing, and I'd imagine you'd get interviews at NW, and if not, I'd much rather have NW than Wustl on my resume for sending cover letters to every chicago firm. I'm from chicago as well. I don't really think any firm comes looking to hire the top 25% or top 1/3 from wustl. I.E. Winston says they take pretty much above median - that is not going to be the case with a market paying firm in a big city - I'd be shocked if people outside the top 10% got pre-selects for them.

I have an inkling of who you might be, and if that inkling is right, we had the same mentor and classes first semester. :? I'd be willing to chat more if my guess is right/in general.

Congrats again

I say go. You're in a "good" position now, but you'll be in a great position at NW. It also won't cost you too much more. Go for it, and congrats.

id transfer every day of the week and twice on sundays. Wustl only places ~20% biglaw vs 40% at NW. It is very unlikely that you will get biglaw chicago from WUSTL at top 25%. No chance at biglaw NY at top quarter. You have a very good chance of getting a big city job from NW. There is also a huge difference in clerkship opportunities.

Plus, Chicago>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>St. Louis. NW law is literally 2 blocks east of the magnificant mile. NW brand name is 10x better than wustl.

I might transfer, but I will say that it's going to be a tough OCI even at Northwestern if you are coming from WUSTL, top quarter, and no work experience. The transfer is no silver bullet. I would say you are a borderline candidate for a biglaw job at either school.

That being said, the costs are not much higher at Northwestern, and the greater prestige of the degree might pay off in the long run. Also, if you didn't make law review, you will get to try again at NU. But not many transfers are successful at making LR at NU.

Did you make either of the other three journals at WUSTL? If I never read another case comment or anything related to a Bible in the jury room it would be too soon.

Northwestern unless WashUStL offers substantial scholarship to stay.
