Why couldn't I chose the present tense?abudaba wrote:Looking to ultimately practice in LA or OC area. Not particularly gunning for biglaw but would not mind the option to at least give it a shot if I can.

It really depends on what you want to do. Some schools are stronger than others in certain fields.
However, I chose Davis because I think that it is a well-rounded school, rising quickly in the ranks (it is now ranked 23rd in the nation), has some famous alum, its grads place well in just about anything they want to do - from judicial clerkships to biglaw to government and public interest, and also has a huge commitment to public interest (for those interested in going the public interest route). It's all around a great school and for once US News rankings does it justice.
Oh, and fwiw, I do not attend Davis so I am not biased in that sense.

Stanford, Berkeley, UCLA and USC would be higher choices than anything on this list.
Of the choices available, I would choose Davis purely because I grew up near Sacramento (which is right by Davis) as a kid.
