OCI Transfer Process (late admittance)

Post by map1188 » Thu Jun 23, 2011 4:56 pm

I noticed that some transfers are admitted late in July or even early August. How does OCI bidding work for these students if the normal bidding period has already passed? For example my current school has 5 days carved out in July for OCI bidding, but after the deadline how would a transfer student bid or participate in OCI? Do they just miss their shot completely? Here are the schools I'm applying to...

(1) Boalt
(2) UCLA
(3) UC Davis
(4) Penn
(5) Columbia
(6) NYU
(7) Cornell

Does anyone know if any of these schools take this into account, or make special exceptions for transfer students?

Boalt's bidding doesn't start until August

If you don't make it into UCLA before bidding is over, then you don't do early OCI. I don't know of any transfers that didn't get in before that date though. At UCLA we have the option of showing up on the day and trying to grab any spots that randomly opened up in between bidding and OCI, I'm not sure exactly how that works. We also have Fall OCI that has less firms but is in September.
