Boston Transfer Thoughts?

Post by blerg » Wed Jun 22, 2011 2:31 pm

I'm on a full ride at Suffolk and really like the environment, etc. I ended up with a 3.55 on a 3.0 curve, which per the rank estimator puts me around top 5%.

I'm thinking of applying to BU/BC. Would it be worth it to give up a full ride at Suffolk and give up LR chances at BC?

What will the OCI be like at Suffolk? I can tell you the stats and lineup for BU. If Boston is your focus though, top 5% at Suffolk is a really good place to be. No easy call here.

Not sure. I have meeting with career services tomorrow to discuss and to look at bidding, etc.

If you wouldn't mind sharing, I'd love to see BU's!

I see no advantages to transferring in your situation. Most of the Boston firms/offices already recruit at Suffolk, so you would be giving up a full scholarship for a largely meaningless bump in prestige.

Anyone have insight into how OCI was for Suffolk last year?

I thought I read on here that 6 students got big law jobs for summer 2011. 6.

As promised, here is some BU OCI info. I just gave it a cursory count, so it could be off by a bit due to some duplicates or things of that sort. We have our regular OCI, as well as a number of off campus programs that we share with other schools. The biggest one is the NYC recruiting program we only share with BC. Between everything, I counted up:

111 unique employers, 224 individual offices

That doesn't take into account the 15 or 16 resume collections for 30 or so individual offices.

To break down those numbers a bit more, I looked at the Vault firm list to see who is represented.

V5 - 3 of them are interviewing either in Boston or NYC, and another does resume collect, so 4 of V5 represented
V25 - 16 represented, including the V5's mentioned above
V100 - Just under 50 of the V100 represented. I sort of lost count in the mid to upper 40's.

These seem like relatively good numbers (and hopefully I can get a job out of it)
