Spring Semester Grades
So I did very well my first semester (top ten%) at a tier 4, however at the end of spring semester I found out one of my parents is dying. I did not do as well second semester (I'm sure the news affected my performance) and got median grades. I should still be in the top 30%, however. Will adcomms take my situation into consideration and look more at my fall grades? Also, one of the reasons I am transferring is to be closer to home because of the situation, and I plan on stressing that in my applications.

Re: Spring Semester Grades
I'm sure adcomms will take such a serious consideration into account and evaluate your second semester grades accordingly. Stressing your need to be closer to home sounds like a good idea.Hopefultransfer wrote:So I did very well my first semester (top ten%) at a tier 4, however at the end of spring semester I found out one of my parents is dying. Sorry to hear about your parent and I wish you the best.

sorry about your parents man. i think schools will definitely take that sort of thing into consideration, but i dont think theyll treat you as a top 10% applicant. what schools were you looking at?

I'm realistic and looking at tier 2s. I am applying to one top 30 school, but I went there for undergrad and they told me alumni status will help for transferring. I don't know if it would be enough, but I'll send the app and see.
