I had two members of my class (TTTT) transfer in from the top 25%. Top 15% went to UF, 25% to 15% went to FSU, and as for the rest.....

These boards are not friendly to 0Ls who plan on attending a law school with the intent to transfer. Wait 4-5 months and ask the question again. However, do not join your current school unless you will be happy graduating from it.

I did something similar to you. I joined a school with the knowledge I may transfer, but I made the decision knowing that I would be happy if I had to graduate from my 1L school. Hoping to transfer is one thing, just don't expect to transfer.

The majority of law students expect to excel during law school, but only a few will be at the top of the class. Thus, TLS advise in general is that you should not enroll in a school unless you would be happy graduating from it.

To answer your question, you would need to be in the top 10% of your class for UF or FSU. Both are borderline T1/T2 schools, so something a bit lower like 15% might cut it. If you are attending a T4 in Florida, you might get a slight boost as well.

Personal Opinion / Advice: Do not enroll in a T4 school unless: 1) You absolutely know you want to practice law, 2) You have a sizeable scholarship, and 3) You would be happy to graduate from the T4 school.

I just got accepted to FSU coming from a T4 school in Florida. I was ranked in the top 4%. I had the intent to transfer schools when I started as a 1L. I think the previous poster's advice is sound. If you want to practice law and will be happy graduating from the school you got into -- go for it. If you graduate from a T4, you will most likely be constricted, initially, to the area where the law schools is located. Depending on your geographical preference this could be a plus or minus. But, I made great contacts at my school and spoke with many alumni who are enjoying successful careers. So, the stigma that you might think is attached to a T4 degree from reading some of these posts is somewhat misplaced. Best of luck.
