New personal statement for transfer app?
Should I write a new personal statement for transfer applications? What if I am applying to a school that I previously applied to and did not get accepted; ok to use my original PS?

do a search or at least scroll down the page before you post a topic.
go ahead and use your old personal statement. make sure to include all your accomplishments from high school. also, write about what you hope to accomplish as a 1L. furthermore, if you've already applied to a school and they happen to have your original app on file, im sure they'll be impressed by your using the same exact personal statement from when they rejected you in the first place.
make sure to tell us how it goes.

OP, read the forum before you post next time.
This is what I did, and it worked well for me. I kept rewriting and revising it, but basically said the same things while adding in references to my 1L accomplishments. For some people, and especially most people who really strongly desire to transfer, they had obvious non-PS reasons that they couldn't do better the first time.

Some people have numbers so bad that the world's greatest PS couldn't get them into a school. Once they have strong 1L grades and have a real chance at that school as a transfer, they might want to reuse their well-written, well-polished PS (or at least its themes and elements) that they've already spent months on.CanadianWolf wrote:Why do you want to reuse a personal statrement that was unsuccessful the first time around ?
