EA Transfer to Chicago/Georgetown? Top 6-9% from T30 school
Hey all,
Just got my grades for first semester and I am going to be ranked somewhere between top 6% and 9% at a top 30 law school! Needless to say I am thrilled.
I am now strongly considering transfering, and was wondering what people thought about my chances for transfer admissions to UChicago (binding early decision based solely on 1st semester grades) and Georgetown (non binding EA based solely on 1st semester grades)
Are the ranking requirements stricter for early action transferring? Do they look more at LSAT/UGPA? Anyone know anything about this? Thanks!

LSAT is irrelevant.Regionality wrote:Hey all,

GTown gets a TON of ED apps, w/ those grades tho you have a good shot. I know several 5% Gtown ED applicants who got in from a t30 last year.
UChi ED might be a little out of reach, you have great grades but it's sort of a black box. W/ your grades HYS is probably out of the picture. If you're grades improve and move into the top 5% then you might have a more realistic HYS shot. If you'd be completely happy w/ Chi then do it (because it's binding). If not, you'll probably have some t14 options.
Good luck!
EDIT: congrats, lol. Killer grades man.

Thanks man. At this point I am more interested in hedging my bets with the grades that I got for fear that they will drop next semester, which is why I'd be willing to commit to Chicago and try for Gtown as well. If I get deferred to Chicago and in at Gtown then I'll still be able to apply across the T14 board after my 2nd semester. I hope I can repeat my performance!megaTTTron wrote:LSAT is irrelevant.Regionality wrote:Hey all,

Hey I'm in the same boat and thinking the exact same thing. I think we're just out of range for H which makes us the ideal UChi ED candidates and we should have a good shot.

Given that HYS is a longshot an you're sure you'd be willing to commit to Chicago, EDing to Chicago sounds like a no-brainer.Regionality wrote:Thanks man. +1. Keep in mind that even if you don't get Chicago ED, you should have a great chance at snagging at least one of the rest of the T14 RD. Good job with the grades, keep it up, and GL!vanwinkle wrote:Given that HYS is a longshot an you're sure you'd be willing to commit to Chicago, EDing to Chicago sounds like a no-brainer.Regionality wrote:Thanks man. Yea, apply ED to both schools and crush your spring grades man. Just don't get lazy (as is known to happen second semester). lolpatrickd139 wrote:+1.
