Downward transfers I'm sure. But then, I doubt that's what you were inferring.

No, never. Every school's site mentions "transfer students not eligible for merit based aid."

Exceedingly rare, if it happens at all. Yale, Harvard, Berkeley are some exceptions, but that's because they are more generous than most law schools when it comes to need-based aid--Harvard and Yale don't give merit to anyone, etc.

But isn't true need based aid for those and some other schools completely separate from scholarship funding?ToTransferOrNot wrote:Exceedingly rare, if it happens at all. I'm curious about this. Can you give more details (how much lower was the ranking, what were the reasons for your transfer, did they just offer the scholarship or did you negotiate for it).sanpiero wrote:+1, received a scholarship from a lower ranked school this cycleMachine Spirit wrote:Downward transfers I'm sure. What part of that don't you get? A friend of Snoop who happens to be CCN got $. Seems pretty clear to me. Wonderful information, really.MisterBragi wrote:Could you expand on that post, Snoopy? What were your friend's stats, how much money was he or she given, and did he or she have to ask the Financial Aid office, or did they just hand it out? (Also, which of the CCN...)
Thanks! Wondering if I should get strategic...

What about people transferring from t25 to lower t14? I would think GULC, especially with their early transfer app, would have some money for top 15% at a t25. Am I wrong?

NYU gives need-based money, so this should come with a caveat.Snoopy1216 wrote:A friend, CCN transfer, definitely got scholly $

I do not think they give it to transfers though.Renzo wrote:NYU gives need-based money, so this should come with a caveat.Snoopy1216 wrote:A friend, CCN transfer, definitely got scholly $

I don't know if they do or not, I was merely offering it as one possible explanation.luthersloan wrote:I do not think they give it to transfers though.Renzo wrote:NYU gives need-based money, so this should come with a caveat.Snoopy1216 wrote:A friend, CCN transfer, definitely got scholly $

HYS all give need based scholarships to transfers. So one could potentially go from paying sticker at a lower school to receiving a large need based scholarship at HYS (see Marktwain who went from sticker at UVA to 30K a year at Stanford).
