Damnit, Yale
Yale is the little boy with his finger in the dam, and once he releases it all the water cascades down and admission decisions can finally be finalized.

Also, I always pictured Yale as an elegant woman who only speaks in profound statements.

Yes.habaptist wrote:apparently someone got in today by phone...are we all doomed
I mean, who knows. But Yale's MO is to admit everyone they're going to admit one afternoon in July by phone and be done with it. This year could be different, but that's how it's been in years past.

Re: Damnit, Yale
Just for those waiting, I know of 3 people (including myself) that received a call on Friday. And if they're only taking 12 or so, my guess is that they take those people, give us a week to decide, and then if there are any slots left they send out other admits. But they may not.

Re: Damnit, Yale
Again, nobody can predict what this year will be and I don't want to be a debbie downer. But I have it on information and belief that Yale does exactly one round of acceptances every year. Surely they hold off on dinging people in case something weird happens, but...phoenixsoars wrote:That's useful to know, thank you. Probably why they say all admissions decisions by end of next week/beginning of week of July 26. By then they'll be able to notify everybody based on how many of the initial admits commit to attend.

Re: Damnit, Yale
I was I'd guess top 5-6% at N, another was top 5% at N, and someone else who posted on TLS said top 5-10% at a top 10 school. It seems that Yale is pretty similar to Stanford in that most people that get in are from T14 schools.ZXCVBNM wrote:stats for yale acceptees?

Re: Damnit, Yale
This is probably an obvious point, but Stanford will almost certainly admit more beyond the initial wave. While it may matriculate the same number of transfer students as Yale, it seems unlikely that the yield is equivalent.phoenixsoars wrote:Interesting. And Yale usually takes around 12, as well as Stanford, right? It looks like Stanford accepted 13 this year.

Also out.
Someday, I'll be their boss! -- Or something.
More seriously, I'm glad Yale has rendered its verdict: this should allow the rest of the dominoes to fall into place.

We have begun orientation-related activities and placing bids for FIP, so I think so.grotius09 wrote:has yale admitted everyone they're going to admit at this point?
