BLS to USD transfer
I've been accepted to USD as a transfer student from Brooklyn Law School. Does anyone think it USD is a better choice in the long run? Does anyone have any experience transferring to USD? Job prospects b/t the two schools? I don't know much about the school other than the campus/weather are beautiful!
The difference in cost is slight.
I'd eventually like to practice in California as I'm from there and my family lives there.
Both schools as ranked close.
Any help from current/past law students would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Re: BLS to USD transfer
I'm sure the prevailing advice on this board will be to transfer to USD if you want to practice in California.
If you want to practice in Cali and are currently at BLS, you have a big problem.

agree. if you want to practice in CALI i would go to USD. though even USD is limited to mostly SD/OC area and don't place very well in LA. but that is not to say it's impossible. your movement is completely lateral, and makes sense if you want to practice in socal.

There is no national prestige at either school, so pick the one in the location you want to end up in.

It's unanimous. Unless you're just determined to spend a couple more years in NY because it's adventurous or something and if you don't now you never will, and you're ready to encounter a bit more difficulty after law school finding a job in CA, you should transfer to USD.

I happen to know OP personally. There are other factors in play that make this decision even easier that it appears.

Re: BLS to USD transfer
Thanks everyone. I think I'm transferring to USD. BLS is comfortable and I know people, but I know now that I want to end up in California after law school. Hopefully the transition to a new school wont be as scary as I'm imagining it...

Transferring would probably be best. USD's placement places well in the SD area, and BLS definitely will not help you in California.

I just finished first year at USD. Great time. Like others said, go to USD if you want to practice in Cali. Its reputation is good in SD and is known in OC/LA. Everything else is up to you.
