Case Western to University of Minnesota?
Here's the deal. Top 20% at Case Western, two Dean's Lists, on a Journal (not Law Review though). I don't have any interest in practicing in Cleveland, or the general Ohio region (WV, IN, Western PA/NY). I ideally would like to work in Minneapolis and/or another city that Case's CSO makes no effort to "market" its students.
Pro's for MN:
In-state tuition makes UMN 10K cheaper/year
Much better OCI for Minneapolis
Much better school (rankings wise)
Minneapolis is (in my opinion) a much better city than Cleveland
Large group of friends in MN (born and raised)
Con's for MN:
Lose top-ranking and GPA (effectively I start over)
Won't be on a journal
Will leave my friends at Case
Will lose the relationships with my professors/adviser
What are people's thoughts here? I feel the objective answer is to transfer...

I voted Minnesota, especially because of the bolded portion. It sounds like you've already made up your mind though.BabeTheBlueOx wrote:Here's the deal. If you had said you wanted to go to the east coast, I probably would say stay at Case. But since you want to go to Minneapolis/ Minnesota in general, go to Minnesota.

As a an Ohioan, I have to say I am holding out hope. Can he really be so cold as to sit there for an hour during prime time and keep telling Cleveland why he is leaving during mulitple interviews?b1ue wrote:

I'm attending Case and like it (and post-LBJ Cleveland), but it's obvious you want to go to Minnesota. It's higher ranked, too - so why not? Everything is working in your favor.

Re: Case Western to University of Minnesota?
Case is not a better school than Uminn, just higher ranked. The universities themselves are comparable. That leaves personal preference, and it sounds like you have great reasons to go to UMinn. Don't worry about the journals as there will be other opportunities for you to distinguish yourself.
Are you sure that a transfer cannot write onto a prestigious journal?
