What is the argument for staying at GW? It doesn't seem like you'd be giving anything up, and GULC is better, so...?

losing class rank, OCI (same firms recruit at both schools more or less - interviews w/o a class rank as a transfer at GULC v. interviewing at GW with a rank), IP reputation (does this even matter?), and transfer stigma(?)... basically, is all the potential detriments worth the added benefit of going to GULC in terms of job prospects?

Also, doesn't GW have one of the best IP programs in the country?

I would rather stay at GW than to move over to GULC; losing class rank is one thing, but you not being able to prove yourself as a transfer student (possibly resulting from inferior post-transfer grades) during OCI would be so painful.

am I living in the twilight zone? xfering from GW to GULC makes 0 sense to me. Top 15 percent at a T20 that specializes in IP (normally these specialization things don't matter, but in GW's case, it actually makes a tangible difference for employment) or a clean slate at the bottom of the T14. I mean, with your grades you could probably Xfer significantly higher up, have you applied to MVP?

As much as this seems like a no brainer to Teoeo, it seems like a no brainer to me the other way. It would be different if you had a law review spot or money from GW, however, you don't.
You said it yourself: the same firms go through OCI at GULC and GW. You will be going through OCI based off of your 1L grades at GW. But when it comes down to it, all else being equal, they would take you at GULC over your exact clone at GW. Why? Because sadly enough, GULC is a more prestegious name, and down the road the name will help bring in clients on a nationwide level. Also, the firms won't discount your top 15% too much at GULC because the admission standards are so close. They might see you as a top 20% but not much less.
Not only that, all you have to do is hop on the metro for 10 minutes! You get to make a switch into the T14 without even crossing state lines. Friends at GW? You can still hang out with them everytime you want.
If you can't squeeze out 10K+/year scholarship out of GW for your 15%+ rank, then Make the Switch.

Re: GW to GULC... please help!
so being a transfer has no detrimental effect on oci etc.? i was just wondering because ive heard its not worth it to transfer from t20 unless its to t10, and even then, it may not be worth it.
