What are my chances?

Post by LawSchoolGolfer » Mon Jun 21, 2010 9:52 am

Top 40% at a school ranked in the 60's

Looking to transfer to:

Kentucky
Florida State
Georgia State
Tennessee
Houston
Florida

Just wondering what anyone thought my chances were, if there was a chance at all, and which ones I would have the best shot of getting into. Thanks for your help.

Is it just for personal reasons (i.e. location)? Seems like all these would be peer schools to where you are now.

FWIW, I don't have a great idea of your chances at transferring, but I know that Tennessee accepts very few transfers.

I am working in the South this summer and I realize that is where I want to end up. In the markets served by those schools or ones close to it. I am working that into my personal statement on each application.

The guy bumped his thread once; I fail to see why he would need to "chill". Moreover, your comment was not only completely unproductive, but unnecessarily insulting. The guy is asking advice, and he made a threat to try to get help. I don't really understand why you felt the need to wander in without anything substantive to say, only to try to be some forum police regarding bumps. Douche.

while he bumped his thread once, the thread was the third highest on top of the message board.

Further, I answered his question. I am the only one on the thread to have taken a stab at it.

I don't have any great insight, but I know some T2 schools (like Temple) explicitly state that they only consider transfers who were in the top 20% of their class. While not all schools explicitly state this, I wouldn't be shocked to find that other schools have a similar policy.

and sorry if i did come off as a dick, i meant that no one on these boards (or really yahoo transferapps) tries to transfer into these schools. certainly the schools do receive transfer applications, and matriculate some transfers.
