NYU Personal Statement
The limit is one page, but there are no further guidelines. Does anyone know if they expect it to be double-spaced? 12-point font? I'm really tempted to single-space it and shrink it down to 11-point font.

Re: NYU Personal Statement
I'm no expert but I can't think of a situation in which they don't want double-spaced. If you haven't already, make your margins 1" which should help you gain .25" on either side.narrowlytailored wrote:The limit is one page, but there are no further guidelines. I was planning on doing single-spaced, and regarding an in-depth theoretical analysis of Greenwich Village and the impact of going to school in such a location. That would probably hurt my chances, the more I think about it though.

Re: NYU Personal Statement
any more opinions on this? I am single-spacing, I just can't write anything coherent in one paragraph if it needs to be double.

Re: NYU Personal Statement
I'm single-spacing. It would be impossible to write anything meaningful if I were to double-space.

Re: NYU Personal Statement
Thank you, just wanted to make sure.
I'm going to try posting this one more time because my Professor is sending in her letters tomorrow morning so I won't have time to call the schools and check:
For NYU and Columbia, can we submit letters of rec through LSAC without having to turn in any of the supplemental forms? Or are they required?

Re: NYU Personal Statement
I double spaced and it was the hardest thing to cut it down from 2 pages to one. And talking about the city being the reason why you want to transfer just doesn't cut it...

Re: NYU Personal Statement
I double spaced it. You guys who single spaced it are weiners. They should provide a word limit instead if they want it short.

Re: NYU Personal Statement
I sent my LORs to both of these schools through LSAC - the forms are not necessary. I also single-spaced the NYU PS.transferhopeful12 wrote:Thank you, just wanted to make sure.

Re: NYU Personal Statement
Did I miss something? I didn't think there was a page limit:

"While the Committee on Admissions does not use interviews as part of the selection process, we would like to give you the opportunity to include more information about yourself than the application form conveys. Because people and their interests vary, we leave the content and length of your statement to your discretion. You may wish to complete or clarify your responses to items on the application form, bring to our attention additional information you feel should be considered, describe important or unusual aspects of yourself not otherwise apparent in your application, or tell us what led you to apply to NYU School of Law."

Re: NYU Personal Statement
If you read "School's instructions and/or checklist" on LSAC it says the personal statement should be one page. Still, I doubt it's fatal to your app if you happened to give them a two-page PS.
