Berkeley question

Post by CMR » Fri Jun 18, 2010 10:27 pm

Should I have taken a moment in my personal statement to point out that my personal reasons to seek transfer to Boalt are sufficiently compelling to motivate the move despite the fact that I would be attending a lower-ranked school according to our rankings?

Shouldn't you have mentioned a personally compelling reason to transfer to Berkeley regardless of where your school ranks in comparison? Can you send a LOCI-type email?

I wouldn't mention rankings at all. As long as you made sure that they know you want to go there, it doesn't matter at all if you wrote I would leave my 4 or 5 school for number 7. I wouldn't worry about it.

This fell a bit flat. I was referring to - --LinkRemoved-- - and our trouncing of Boalt.

People on this site are hopelessly slow and gullible. Good job man, I thought it was funny.

Yeah. People on this site believe just about anything that is posted, even the most obvious jokes or flames.

OP wasn't funny. It was stupid. Kind of like your last two posts in this thread.

I like to think that it was good in substance, but poor in execution.

It would have been funny if I (or anyone else) had known you went to Cooley.

I could edit, but then I think it would lose its value as a lesson.

This describes it much better than "stupid." I was hungry and cranky. Sorry all.
