Chance at transferring to Columbia, NYU, or Penn?
New poster to TLS. Wondering if I have a chance to transfer to Columbia, NYU, or Penn? Top 14% (3.45 GPA rounded to 3.5 for ranking purposes) at T30 school. Somewhat decent soft. A couple of personal reasons to be in NY or Philly areas. Just wanted to see what people thought before I paid to send in applications. Thanks a lot for your help!

That doesn't really matter, anyway. Class rank matters the most, I think, as the grading curve differs at all schools. Any thoughts?

Probably a decent shot at Penn. Columbia and NYU are unlikely. It might depend on which T30 you're transferring from. Someone from BC or Fordham is going to have a better shot at the 86th percentile of his or her class than someone from IUB, Iowa, or Wisconsin.

Based on past cycles, as well as the heightened transfer competition ITE, I doubt top 15% will net a T10 acceptance, let alone a T6. There are just too many people w/ the same goal who did much better. Might be worth an app, but it's probably not going to happen.
