FA for school you could have attended with original stats

Post by CMR » Wed Jun 16, 2010 12:42 pm

A quick question - have schools ever been known to award scholarships to transfer students who had stats prior to 1L that would have commanded some type of scholarship (and, of course, a good 1L record)?

i doubt it. your stats no longer boost their usnwr ranking. i've talked to about seven or eight admissions offices about this. the answer at all but one was "we do not offer scholarships to transfer students." fordham was the outlier but, given that they have a reputation for being stingy w scholarships, i doubt they'd offer much.

Thanks - I was confident this was a question that had been addressed before, but was a little tight on time, so I appreciate the answer. Too bad - this thread is a good lesson for prospective law students...do your research, and don't settle on a school simply because it's in your hometown :).
