No, I couldn't give a fuck if I'm Coif. Just curious about the curve broadly speaking. Thanks bro.ToTransferOrNot wrote:yes
Edit: If you mean the breakdown re: honors (so 19% of the class in a required 1L class would get 179, 5% would get 180.5, etc.) then I don't know whether it is required, but it is basically how it breaks down.

Good. Busy. This is the first day that I've gotten home before 11:00, and it is only because I was forcibly removed from the office for one of those wine and dine events.miamiman wrote:Ill happily bear that cross if and when I get there. So glad to hear you're enjoying it. You getting staffed on any substantive projects?
Also, any sense that work is picking up in general such that they may have a more robust oci?

Yeah, all of my products have been real work thus far. I obviously can't say exactly what they've been.miamiman wrote:So glad to hear you're enjoying it. You getting staffed on any substantive projects?

As far as a more robust OCI though? I honestly have no idea, but I wouldn't go that far.

Was OCI last year something less than robust?

Yes.
I know hiring is down across the board, so I'm sure OCI last year wasn't as good as it had been in the past, but I have no idea to what extent. I spoke with someone in the Admissions office who seemed to say that U of C wasn't experiencing the brunt of the downturn nearly so badly as some (lesser) schools.
For those of you who did OCI last year, how many interviews did you have and how many offers resulted from those interviews? I've heard testimonials from a few years ago and some from non-transfers, but I was hoping to get some insight from a transfer who experienced U of C OCI last year.
Thank you.

They updated the accepted transfer students page. Finally some SLA information.
Also where is everyone living? I know we hashed this out a few pages ago and the UChi c/o 2013 thread is bubbling w/ information, but I cannot decide. lol.

This thread is too mother-effin quiet. I know some people were just recently admitted. Let's keep this party going.
I had to turn down law review at my old school today so I need to get my UC excitement level high enough to pretend like I didn't just do that.

Re: Official University of Chicago Transfer Class 2012
Yea I have heard almost nothing about UC admits compared to other threads. I am hoping this is due to the most of the offers coming out tomorrow and not the small size of the transfer class. But from the TLS sample it doesn't seem like many people applied here or the people that did are waiting for acceptances to come out of hiding.
I figure if 20-25 students end up going there they probably accept at least 45 transfers.

Oh that's exciting, did they send a list of people they took? If so could you forward it to me?megaTTTron wrote:This thread is too mother-effin quiet. I know some people were just recently admitted. Let's keep this party going.

Yea, there's no list. I think, especially this year, like half our class is trying to transfer so many of the first people they ask turn them down, so they have to dig deeper into the pool. We only know of our offer, and we can't tell anyone until we decide so as to not make some people feel like they're second choices -- at least that's the impression I got.traydeuce wrote:I meant law review.

Applied U of C transfer regular decision from Tier 3 school, top 5% in class. The silence from UofC is deafening. I really liked my previous law school and am transferring to the Chicago-area for personal reasons, so it's not hyper-critical that I get into my first choice...but going to your 4th choice school isn't the most awesome thing in the world.
Checking the 'status checker' like an OCD crack addict isn't helping my summer research project either.
Just sharing the experience. Good luck to everybody in the same boat.

^^ I don't believe Chicago is a huge fan of non t1 transfers - I know a guy who was 1st in his class at Rutgers and got flat-out denied in early decision - but I wouldn't say the silence is deafening. They aren't admitting any RD applicants until early next week.

Good luck Bob and let us know how it goes. There are a lot of very good law schools in Chicago, so you can't really go wrong, but best of luck getting into U of C. I'm sure you'll hear this week.bobloveslaw wrote:Applied U of C transfer regular decision from Tier 3 school, top 5% in class. The silence from UofC is deafening. On an unrelated note... I'm a little curious as to how some people define the tiers of law schools. Some people refer to every school in the top 100 as Tier 1. Though some in Top 14 schools seem to think of that group as its own tier. Is there a consensus?
Anyway, I agree that the thread is too quiet. I am now starting to check Craig's List for apartments becoming available September 1st. So I guess that's exciting for me.
Oh, and does anyone have an idea of the transfer orientation schedule? I emailed the admissions dept and they said that it's usually confined to Friday afternoon (8/20) with a social event in the evening, but it's run by the Dean's office, which is still putting the schedule together. Does anyone have any better info?

Any idea/speculation when in the week that confirmation email is coming? This wait is agonizing.

Reviving this biotch. Anyone else decided to take the plunge and go from admitted to attending?
Also, if anyone is in Boston and wants to meet up at a bar for a couple beers and high fives for getting in, let me know. I'm bored out of my mind here.
