nervous about GTown EA being rescinded...
Hi everyone,
So i was recently accepted into georgetown as an EA transfer. i studied for my exams like i did last semester, but felt pretty terrible coming out of 3 of the 4 exams. ive read the threads about people feeling more anxious after 2nd semester because of higher expectations etc. and hoped for the best, BUT...
i just got my first grade back and it was in the only class i was confident about and received a B+ (median at my school). last semester, i didn't receive any grades lower than an A so i am now extremely worried. my K's exam went terrible... mind blanked and can think of over 10 issues i failed to spot... (i know its on a curve but i am almost 100% sure i am going to be below the curve). i am pretty sure my gpa will plummet this semester and was wondering if anyone knows if GT rescinds ea offers due to 2nd semester grade drops.
sorry if i sound whiny... i am just extremely depressed/worried about my grades this semester. not really sure what happened as i studied as hard/harder. the 2nd deposit deadline is coming up... should i even bother paying it if i am just going to be rescinded?

Your question is premature & you're asking the wrong people. First, wait until you get all of your grades, then ask Georgetown admissions.

If you can't puzzle out the terms of your Georgetown acceptance on your own, you are probably correct in assuming you did horribly on your contracts exam.

Re: nervous about GTown EA being rescinded...
thanks for the replies. any more thoughts? neither acceptance letter nor gulc's website say anything explicit about consistent performance (like chicago does for their ED)... has anyone heard of anyone being rescinded? sorry again and i know i sound stupid but im just extremely worried

FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK!!!!!
GULC EA should be the least of your worries. I mean shit, the LD50 for B+ is like 2... I don't know many people who have survived B+, but those who have are just... different... somehow. One needs extensive in home care, the other manages to get by on his own but requires a government subsidy and works one of those 'hand out' type jobs (think: walmart greeter, etc.) for people with these kinds of problems.

I know that greeter, sad sad story...if only he could have pulled an A-

i know i sound like a brat complaining about a B+ and honestly, im ok with the grade. the bigger worry is that i thought i killed that exam and i know that my other exams were far, far worse. i dont think my worries just come from higher expectations after first semester... i completely blanked on contracts and had major problems with my other exams as well...

I don't think they will rescind on you. I know Chicago has a clause like that, but I don't think GULC does -- unless the drop is extreme. B+'s (and even a B or two) likely will not be enough. Your OCI chances at GULC, however, will plummet.

Put down the next deposit and hope for the best. There's no sense in freaking out until you know what cards you have in your hand. I agree with Bankhead that if you do slip, you're probably not necessarily going to have the EA rescinded but that OCI prospects could potentially be diminished. Either way, you've already taken the exams so there's nothing more you can do.

Re: nervous about GTown EA being rescinded...
GULC doesn't have a consistent performance requirement. You'll be fine unless you actually fail.
Of course, you have no hope of getting a job at OCI and should killself, but that's another story entirely.

i honestly dont think GULC could rescind even if you did fail to be honest
but that's just random conjecture on my part not confirmed by anything

If you fail, you probably don't meet the "successfully complete 1L year" requirement.apper123 wrote:i honestly dont think GULC could rescind even if you did fail to be honest

Haha I read this as "fail to be honest" as in lie to them and was like "well, actually..."apper123 wrote:i honestly dont think GULC could rescind even if you did fail to be honest

Re: nervous about GTown EA being rescinded...
thanks for the replies. my gpa is definitely dropping this semester because of the B+... i'm just not sure if gulc purposely didn't expressly state a consistent performance requirement because there is none (as part of the incentive of paying the non-refundable $1200 deposit before 2nd semester grades come out) or whether they implicitly have a requirement... i guess i was wondering if there are any anecdotal stories of ppl getting rescinded...trialjunky wrote:d34dluk3, I love your tar. When do EA transfers turn in their transcript? From what I remember, it just needs to be turned in sometime before the start of classes in August, right? So, if they were worried about your second semester grades, you'd think that they would want it sooner. However, I might be wrong.

they're due june 21 (or whenever 2nd semester grades are finalized)... after the 2nd deposit is due.

the more i think about it the more im sure i BOMBED Ks (think C or lower)... i know this will ruin my OCI prospects, but i don't want to pay the $1200 deposit, cancel my current lease, sign a new lease, get ready to move etc. only to be rescinded... any more thoughts? thanks again...

Re: nervous about GTown EA being rescinded...
yeah... and im sorry if i sound insane. i know a lot of people have the same feeling, but after doing relatively poorly on the only exam i felt decently good about, my fears have just grown. just an example of why im so scared: realized today that i forgot to go through the factors for material breach on a fact pattern based on whether or not a breach was material. probably the only person in the whole section who did not do it. my laptop also died during the exam (stupid exam software) and i was forced to handwrite a portion which also threw me off psychologically... ugh... sorry all i just really need to vent :(:(
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
