LOR Typo
One of my LOR's was sent out last week and I was given a copy of the letter. I noticed a huge "typo" in it. I had told my professor that I was applying to GULC and he wrote the letter just to GULC. I would just ask him to write another but this was like pulling teeth to get already and he is on leave in London for the remainder of the year, summer, and next year.
Should I just say screw it?
How unethical would it be to re-write it word for word but without the single mention of GULC? Or would they get a copy of it and totally screw me anyways? I realize this is shaky territory and I'm not trying to get in trouble here, just wondering what to do.

Re: LOR Typo
Can't you just get a new letter from someone else? I feel uneasy about the idea of re-writing a LOR.

Re: LOR Typo
Why can't your professor just re-write it when he/she gets back from London? At this point in the time is there any urgency that requires that it be done right now?

Re: LOR Typo
tbh I want to double check with one of my profs that he didn't include GULC on the letter, and I'm not sure how to tactfully do it.

Because they aren't coming back until November 2010. I need this stuff in bye June 1st at the latest. Im just gonna scrap it I guess. no need to risk getting in some kind of trouble about it.Bert wrote:Why can't your professor just re-write it when he/she gets back from London? ITT: We overanalyze everything.
Like whether a typo in a LOR is going to result in a rejection for a school we were otherwise qualified for.

Re: LOR Typo
Both of my letters had numerous typos--all were from sloppiness rather than a lack of skill.
It hasn't seemed to matter, but who knows-- maybe it's why I was rejected from Yale!

Its not that its at typo. I wouldn't care about that. Its that it clearly says another schools name on it.patrickd139 wrote:ITT: We overanalyze everything.

Yeah I have a feeling that one of my profs may have talked about wanting to move back to CA, so Im stuck only sending that one to Berkeley and Stanford and UCLA.stinger35 wrote:Its not that its at typo.
