Transfer to UC Davis to HYS or other T14
First post here. I am currently a 1L in my second semester at Davis. I have wanted to go to to Stanford for a long time but didn't do as well as I wanted to on the LSAT.
I'm currently right on the edge of the top 5% of my class and maybe ranked ~12 +/- 1. What do you think my chances are for a transfer to Stanford or Boalt? What decrease in class rank can I "survive" before I lose out on transfer opportunities to those two schools? I don't expect my grades to fundamentally change, but I would appreciate your advice.
Though I appreciate any feedback on a number of other alternative schools if these numbers won't match up with Stanford or Boalt, I would prefer to stay on the west coast if at all possible. Thanks

Assuming your grades stay the same, you would be in at Boalt (or have a very very good shot, transfer admissions can be kinda weird I guess).
Stanford you would need to move up a bit to have a good shot, though its worth the app at top 5% just not that great of odds. If you can move into top 1-3% you would have a better shot at HYS.

If you stay at a similar rank you are a very strong candidate for Boalt (unless there is somethign wrong with the app, you will get in). On Stanford, I am not sure. I would definitely say it would be worth the shot, but I am not familiar with the how many transfers they take or what their numbers are like. Can I safely assume that I am in a pretty good position regarding USC or UCLA? Would a transfer to either of these schools be worth it vs. the academic scholarship that I may be offered?

Re: Transfer to UC Davis to HYS or other T14
Another clarification and question. I hope to start my career if at all possible in Southern California (preferably San Diego). Any advice towards this end in terms of the schools listed above? How much of a difference in employment prospects might we be talking about between Boalt and USC/UCLA? Would Davis be viable in getting me a great job at a top firm in San Diego if I decide to stay there?

Check the LSAC site's transfer statistics...I am pretty sure that Stanford and USC each took around 5 transfers last year. Boalt and UCLA each took around 30-40.

I am also a Davis 1l on the edge of the 5% (Amaethon, is your gpa also 3.806??) and am looking at transferring to Boalt and possibly UCLA.
My biggest question is whether it is worth it to give up my class rank at Davis (and the fact that I like it here and all the other hassles of transferring) to attend UCLA? Will my employment prospects be THAT much better/different? Thanks in advance
