I don't know if any of you are feeling similarly, but we just got information about registering for classes next semester. After reviewing the course offerings, I've realized that I can't even come up with the minimum number of credits. There are just no classes that I want to take, because the profs who taught courses in the area of law in which I'm most interested (patent) are leaving after this year. This absolutely sucks, and if I'm cornered into staying here permanently, I'm going to be in for a rough Fall 2010 semester
At least there are some required courses remaining..I guess I'll just take those.

Check the grade distributions and sign up for the classes that have the highest median GPA's.

I can empathize. I skimmed ours and realized that the topic areas I was most interested in were taught by visiting profs, meaning there's no guarantee the classes will be taught again once they leave and when I can actually take them.

Where do you attend? If you do not wish to name it, is it niche ranked for IP ? Are the profs leaving to teach elsewhere or to practice law full-time?

I won't name the school, but IP law is barely offered here. The prof who taught IP law is leaving to teach elsewhere.

Sorry for my ignorance, but how can I access the grade distributions for professors? I used pick-a-prof in undergrad, but I cant find a website for law school... thanks.

If your grades aren't strong enough to transfer upwards, you could always lateral transfer to a school with a better IP program.

That's an interesting idea... I might start a web site for law school professor's grade distributions.
I'll call it
The Mean 80.

That's also a thought. GW comes to mind, but it's a slightly-more-than-lateral transfer in the positive direction.
